The Lucky Series

In this blog I want to take you back some years. I’m going to take a stab and say we’re talking somewhere between 1987 and 1990. Back then life was pretty sweet for little Debbie. Between playing with friends, dancing, school and reading books, things were A-OK. That’s about the time I started dabbling in writing my own… books, I mean.

And what would become my most famous series (also the only one)? The Lucky Series. It all began with Lucky’s Adventure. What’s it about? Well, I’m glad you asked. It’s about a dog – a beagle-cum-labrador type – who goes on an adventure and is rewarded with… the classic kid’s wish… never-ending wishes.

Book two, Lucky takes Megha on an adventure, introduces Megha, aptly named after a friend of mine at school, who joins Lucky on his adventures. Book three takes a deadly turn with an ill-fated escapade with a spider in Lucky and Megha and the spider. Luckily (pun intended), in book four, Lucky and Megha arise from the dead, we learn that all is ok.

Which brings us to book five… Megha and Lucky and the dim sim… featuring computer typed text cut and pasted (new tech, eh?). Now, I’m not sure why I stopped there. Maybe it was because Megha was trying to take over (the fact that her name appears first in this title does not escape me). Or maybe I was just plum out of ideas… I mean… a dim sim?

In any case, it brought back some memories when I happened upon it in Australia this year. And maybe it will bring back a few memories for some of my readers, too!
