Snips. Interesting, I thought. What could these be? I liked the name when I first saw them – Snips – that is a cool name for chips. Thomas told me they were great – as a kid he used to eat them a lot – all Austrians love them.
And I love chips – I am a chip lover.
So I bought a packet to try.
Go with me on this journey… imagine fluffy little morsels that taste kind of like…
Peanuts.
Yes, peanuts. And they also have this weird texture like Cheetos (without the crazy yellow coating), which means they get stuck all over the top of your back teeth…
And again… they taste like peanuts!
I took a packet home when I went back to Oz the first year and… well… they didn’t go down very well there. The person who seemed most taken by them was actually Spanish.
But hey, Austrians won’t touch salt’n’vinegar chips so I can’t really talk.
I think it’s weird… but again, it’s completely subjective.
So enjoy your Snips guys… I’ll stick to my weird Australian food.
Austrians won’t touch s&v chips (more for me), but I’ve seen my aunty use a dash of vinegar in a bowlful of potato soup.
I think I know one person in Austria who actually likes s&v chips… so plenty for me too 🙂 Of course I import them from Oz when I can… or at least England 🙂
